"Modern Times", which is written, produced and directed by Sir Charles Chaplin and "Big Automobile Factory" which is written, produced and directed by William VanDerKloot are two movies that will be compared in this essay.Although both of them are about mass production, their perspectives are totally different from each other.while "Modern Times" critices condition of mass production system for a worker, the other movie explains how a car is produced.after technological developments, workers had to work with machines and they are forced to work like them.their lunch time, break time, working time etc. were adjusted according to machines."Modern Times" emphasize this perspective of mass production.this movie tell us hard conditions with funny events.now, we laugh them but at the same time we can realize the tragic points of workers lifes.
however"Big Automobile Factory" don't suggest any idea about mass production due to its documentary core.this movie is more objective than "Modern Times"."Big automobile factory" try to show all the simple points of producing a car(sorry not a car,it is mercedes-benz!)because it is kind of movie that was prepared for children. Also,in "Big Automobile Factory" ,we can observe that ,despite the fact that all factory consist of machines, they are all controlled by a worker.this is the proof of that machines is nothing without any human controller.
